Away with Aerosol Foam Sprays...and Racists

It's ridiculous how apologists for Wendy can insist that she isn't racist. Just thought I'd quote from her entry to prove she is (in case she exercise her "editorial integrity" by changing her words again):

"For example, would you like to party with foreign workers?

*shudders* (I heard Orchard road was full of them, molesting and spraying our girls!! Grr! Why are we sharing Orchard road with them?! Another entry)

See, you get my point."

Again, molestation is a criminal matter, and race/nationality should NEVER be dragged in. But anyway, looking at the bit in bold, I was just wondering what sort of sign we might see if Wendy gets her way. Maybe the following:

"NO DOGS AND BANGLAS ALLOWED." =)

Whatever happened to Singapore being a world-class cosmopolitan city?

PS: A friend of mine was in Orchard Road that evening. She too got sprayed, but by a young bunch of locals....

    Do you live for Xiaxue?
You must realise there is much more to life than clinging to her every word and yapping at her tail.

im glad to see that there are bloggers out there who are intelligent (like you!). I've been following the blogging scene for a year now, its a way of knowing whats going on in sg, I've been away for 5 years now. We have yawners like mr brown, miyagi.. the scandalous, I dont need to say much on this one, the ridiculous, ditto as above and the smart, thought provoking ones. I kinda prefer malaysian blogs. Im also glad i left. People seem to pick and choose who they want to persecute dont they? Maybe some events were just for show. Whats new?

And? Getting sprayed's not it. The issue is molestation.

    Wake up your ideas.

Ahhh, yes. I agree with you totally.

She does not realise this and till today she insists that she is talking about molests.

The fact that she calls all Indian workers, "Bangla" is already a derogatory racist remark in itself.

It's the same as calling African Americans, "Niggers", or Chinese, "Chinks" ...

First of all, I am pretty sure that she does not know the origin of the word, "Bangla", taken to mean Bangladesh workers.

Little does she know that many Foreign workers nowadays, comes from many parts of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, so to say, "Bangla" is clearly a racist stereotype to label all dark skinned males, isn't it?

I don't know, to be honest. She seems to have a problem with just about everyone and everything.

Gosh, her life must be real miserable. =)

Just one question. Isn't your site supposed to be a parody of simplysandra's? Why are there more posts against XX than simplysandra?

The site design is, but the content isn't. Yes, this blog was originally meant to paradoy vanity bloggers (including Sandra), but didn't take me long to realise that their vanity's nothing compared to an obnoxious brat who calls herself Xiaxue (esp given the latter's influence).

Isn't hard to understand why so many people hate her.

Well, someone's got to do the jobs that Singaporean's don't want. It's the same with most developed countries: Turkish workers in Germany, South American workers in Japan (who do the "3K" jobs), etc.

Can we do without them? I don't think so. So like it or not, we'll just have to learn to live with them.

anyway, simplesandra you shd bitch about other blogger too, not jst xx. Regarding the same matter of aerosol foam spray n racist, you can find another blogger who suggest that public holiday parties shd be exclusively only to those wif pink ic and their foreign friends. i dont bother to remember this blogger's name but you can see her link from miyagi's entry on this matter.

Personnaly when i read xiaxue's blog (and i like to read it, i think it's rather funny) i get the impression that she's not so serious about all the arrogant stuff she's spreading. I think she only means half of it, and that's what makes it funny in my eyes. I think it's the same level as gossip magazines: not to intellectual but still people read it and laugh with it. Anyways, you shouldn't get so fed up with it, why give comments on everything she says? Okay, her posts on these Indians are not very nuanced, but i get het point. In my country most of the immigrants are from morroco. And they have the same reputation for a lot of dutch people as the indians have fot XX. And actually i think personal experience can be a fact. A fact is something or an event of wich the thruth is certain. If wendy says something has happened to her (and she's not lying) than it can possibly be a fact. If she says: a indian sprayed at me, and he did, than it's a fact in my eyes. The immigrants of morroco i was talking about have the reputation of not wanting to work, but then if they work, they are said to take our work away from us. So you see the world is hard for them. I'm not saying they don't want to work, but i do say that if someone is calling me a redheaded slut on the streats whitout any reason, it is 9 tot 10 a morrocan. That is a fact, because i've been counting and i'm not lying. So am i prejudiced? Yes, if i see a bunge of morrocan guys at my side of the street i feel like crossing it so i don't have to pass them. Am i a racist? No i'm not. And my prejudices have been prooved wrong, in a small number of occasions. For example, when a car full of morrocan boys comes driving next to me I'm preparing a whole scolds tirade and then they are just politely asking me how to get to a certain place... Anyways, just so you know, in my country asians (especially chinese ones, but we kind of generalise al asians to be chinese) are known to be hard workers who don't just come here to profit of our social system, wich is appreciated by most people (allthough some people offcourse accuse them of taking their jobs away)

Not racist. Discrimination based on a specific nationality, xenophobia and racism are three separate concepts.

We aren't discriminating I think whether they come from China, India or whatever, but whether they are foreign. This is xenophobia.

    I don't think it's about race, either.

It is an interesting case of current cultural identity, fear of the uncertain, and yet for example the PAP seems inclined to favour "foreign talent" over local Singaporeans. In some ways, this xenophobia is justified, and some ways it is not.
